Abstract

The Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programmes aim at strengthening the devel-opment of human capital among the most vulnerable sectors of the population, with special regard to the youth. The Programmes are means to stop the transfer of poverty between generations. The CCT Programmes implemented in Latin America, although diversified among themselves, share a common approach, which is the delivery of fi-nancial and non financial resources to families found living in extreme poverty and committed to the improvement of human capital of their members, with special regard to health and education. The paper has two scopes. On one hand, it intends to analyse the effectiveness of the CCT Programmes as tools to fight poverty; on the other hand the paper proposes a reflection on the contributions brought by the international cooperation to the formulation and implementation of the CCT Programmes.
