Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check their submissions meet the items shown below. Submissions that do not meet these guidelines will be returned to the authors.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which appears in About the journal.

Author Guidelines

Writers who are interested in being published in Franciscanum should keep in mind that the reception of articles that are the product of official institutional research from philosophy, theology and related subjects will be privileged. Although we will also receive research articles that are constructed from reflective exercise (interpretative, critical or analytical) or from the exercise of documentary review of various available research sources.


 



These articles will be placed in one of two main sections, either in «Philosophy» or «Theology» according to thematic affinity declared or predominant. And occasionally, books reviews[1] can be included in a minimum percentage, depending on the sections of the journal or the decisions of the Editorial Committee.


 



In order for a work to be published, it is necessary for the writing to be appropriate and unpublished. That the written has not been sent are parallel to any other journal or organ broadcasting for evaluation, which is not in process and has not been published in other media, whether print or digital, partially or fully, in such a way that the rules of copyright and intellectual property are respected.


 



The article should be laid out as follows:


 



Length: Between 12 and 30 pages.
Font: Times New Roman, size 12.
Interline:
Spacing: 0 points.
Margins: 3 cm on each side.
Must be sent in Microsoft Word 2007 or later format, letter size.
Must be presented the title of the article and, if applicable, the subtitle preceded by dot followed, so that if possible not exceed 15 words.
Specify what is the official investigation that led to this text, the institution that finances and dates of development, in a footnote on the title page at the end (*).
Next, right-aligned, the full name of the author will be written. In a footnote (*) a short biography in the following order: studies, work or senior positions in the past and the present, institutional affiliation, research groups to belonging, email (essentially institutional, but you can optionally add personal mail) and Orcid number. Immediately the full name of the university where the author currently works or represent, and the city and country.
Subsequently, each author will present an analytical abstract (100-250 words) in which it made ​​explicit objectives, scope, methodology and major findings; and five key words (if possible, having as support the Unesco Thesaurus).
The title, abstract and keywords must be filed in both Spanish and English.
The text content must be developed harmoniously, legible and consistent with the subject manner, as «impersonal», with appropriate wording and punctuation.
If you use tables, charts, graphs or images, the author must deliver in an editable format. Must also ensure that it has the necessary permissions publication that meets all the requirements of intellectual property and, as appropriate, shall provide the sources accurately. In all cases must be titled and numbered.
If it’s strictly necessary use phrases or paragraphs in other languages different to the predominant in the article, if it’s more than a line, should be immediately traduce and in the footnote it’s cited in the original language, and the complete source, also indicates whether a case is a translation itself.
In addition, each part of the text must be listed sequentially with Arabic numerals (except introduction, conclusion and bibliography).
Although the official language of the journal is Spanish, papers will be accepted in other languages ​​such as English, French and Portuguese.
Any quote or paraphrase of other texts should be followed by a footnote reference with precise information on the sources used according to the Chicago Manual of Style norm for humanities journals. Consistent can be rejected an article if it does not meet this minimum requirement, to avoid bad habits citation and plagiarism and self-plagiarism.
The writer must be provided, where appropriate, the URL of the sources or texts used, essentially dating footnotes and bibliography according to the Chicago Manual of Style norm for humanities journals.
The bibliography should be placed at the end of the article, citing sources that have only referenced in the footnote text, following the guide of the Chicago Manual of Style for humanities journals. This will also be used for referencing in footers:

Sending of manuscripts, Reception, Judgment and Publication Process


 


The author should send the article directly from the official website of the journal (http://revistas.usb.edu.co/index.php/Franciscanum), registering all the data there. Texts sent by third parties are not accepted and only exceptionally sent from the official mail: franciscanum@usbbog.edu.co.


 



Once the article has been received, at least will be presented to two judges or academic peers who in 20 days will deliver their opinion on a format which establishes the criteria for evaluation and the results (a. Accepted; b. Accepted with modifications; c. rejected). These opinions will then be relayed to the article's author, depending on the response time of the academic peers.


 



2.1 «Double Blind» judging will be carried out, in which the author will not know the name of the judges, nor will they know the name of the author of the article which they are evaluating.


2.2 In case of a disagreement between the judges, it might be possible to send the article for a third review to make a final decision, and the Editor will have the final decision on its publication.


2.3 Whether an article is accepted, continue with the editorial process.


2.4 If an article is accepted with modifications, the author has full responsibility for them within a period of 15 calendar days to continue the process. If the author doesn’t comply the stipulated time, the article will not be published and would have to start a new process, undergoing a reappraisal of academic peers in the next issue.


2.5 If an article is refused, having been through the arbitration process, we don’t we will receive the article for a new process.


2.6 If an author doesn’t answer emails or stops communicating in the process, it doesn’t meet the delivery terms established in one of the stages, and if doesn’t diligence and sends the authorization of publication in the set time, it is your responsibility and may be cancel the text in the process in which it is found, as affect the overall course of editing, layout and publication.


2.7. The dates of receipt and acceptance explicitly will appear at the end of each article.


 



Once accepted, the article will then be revised on style, edited, layout and published, where changes can be made to correspond with the editorial line of the journal.


 


 


 


General Regulations


The content is wholly the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily express the institutional or magazine thinking.
Sending an article to the e-mail address of the Journal or platform Open Journal Systems (OJS) does not imply it will be published. This depends on the evaluation process and editing text.
The authors, whose texts are accepted by the magazine after the evaluation process by academic peers, must express agree to disclosure in print and virtual media (website and freely available national and international data) through the signing of a document that authorizes the use of proprietary rights and intellectual property. If this document is not signed the text will not be published.
Similarly, the authors should ensure through written text submitted for publication that respects the intellectual property rights of third. For any difficulty each author exonerates of responsibilities to the journal and the institution that supports.
The authors should meet editorial processes for each publication.
The OJS platform will be the privileged means to maintain communication during the process. However, inquiries and suggestions will be addressed through the e-mail of the Journal.
If a referee does not answer email on where are invited to evaluate a text in the period of 20 calendar days. We will be insisted at least once a few days later. If the referee doesn’t answer or reject the invitation, the request will be made to another referee until one of them agrees to do so.
All referees must immediately state whether the evaluation of the article generates any type of conflict of interest, either because they know the author/s, because they work with that person or have any type of prejudice that would not allow them to make the evaluation of totally transparent or calm.
If a referee agrees to make the evaluation process of an article, at the end of the 20 day period if has not sent filled out evaluation format, will be write an email to insist on the fulfillment of academic commitment necessary. After five days, if the obligation is fulfilled, will be write again requesting a reply. If there is no response to the request and does not provide the evaluation form filled out, the referee will be notified that the same academic work will be asked to another one.
Each of the referees agrees not to disseminate the text has been sent for evaluation, by any means. With that appropriate confidentiality and ethical behavior will be saved in the process.
Authors will not be charged for the processes of reception, arbitration, editing, layout and publication. Similarly, the publication of these texts will not generate any compensation to the authors.
The service provided by the scientific committee, editorial committee and the judges does not imply any payment. But it involves the explicit recognition of their names and the institutions they represent, within each issue of the journal.
The magazine will only publish a minimum number of copies for exchange and indexation processes.
The Franciscanum journal is declared as an academic publication Open Access.
Each text is presented under the Creative Commons «Attribution-ShareAlike» 4.0 International License.


 



 


 



Publication Ethics


The Franciscanum journal incorporates the directives and guidelines set forth by The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) related to the principle of transparency and best practices for academic publications.
The ethic policies of the publications in the San Buenaventura University, displayed on the page of the Publishing Bonaventuriana, are those governing the exercise of the journal and it is understood that the authors adhere to them to submit their papers for consideration for publication.
We understand that ethical practices not only concern the duties of authors, but also involves those involves those who are involved in the editorial process. The authors are entitled to their original assessment fair and impartial evaluation, to the review within a reasonable time, and to be treated with respect and correction in correspondence with the editorial policies.
Authors are requested to avoid engaging in practices such as data manipulation, omission or fictitious attribution, omission of the sources, duplicate publication and fragmented publication.


 



[1] A book review is a document that, from an attentive lecture, presents to academic community a clear position about a current written work. It’s must include all information about the work, describing the content and demonstrate a critical and projective position.
