Abstract

In the article we intend to ponder over a topic, which is central in education, politics and evangelization practices, I mean the problem of peace. This topic is particularly appropriate, above all if we consider the present times lived by Colombia, and more generally by the contemporaneous society. The thesis supported by the article is that the absence of a war does not mean necessarily the reign of peace, as war carries with it a kind of acceptance conditions of an ethos, which makes it natural a number of warlike practices, which divide and atomize the society, thus creating a sense of despair and depoliticization.

In order to face this situation, that is to reverse this natural character of this ethos (war as a natural fact), we state that a spiritual dimension is required to make possible an establishing of strong social links (brotherhood) and the recognition of differences, every one’s peculiarity and individuality. In order to develop this task we then propose a dialogue starting from the postulates of spirituality and Franciscan thought, particularly fraternity and minority concepts in relation to the topic. So doing, we mean that the understanding frame offered by the Franciscan postulates presents an adequate potential to contribute to the debate on peace in the present times following the Colombian conflict.
