Abstract

The question that is poses is the relationship that may exists between the crisis of legitimation of contemporary societies, after the decline of the great theoretical and metaphysical systems prior to the Enlightenment, and the conspicuous proliferation of the politics of historical memory. Underlaying this work is the idea that these policies attempt to compensate the absence of legitimacy and, perhaps, of hope. In this regard, it is worth asking whether the political bodies are emphasizing the true supreme good, which is none other than life.
