Abstract

Los latinoamericanos hemos sido acostumbrados a escuchar nuestra historia contada desde las culturas europea y norteamericana y, aunque se cuente desde distintas perspectivas o con variantes matices, el resultado parece ser siempre el mismo; a saber, que fuimos desde siempre salvajes o de pobre desarrollo y, por tanto, una cultura de la barbarie. Apocalipto, la reciente película del director Mel Gibson acerca de la cultura Maya de origen Mexica, es ejemplo de ello.
