Abstract
Abstract
This article is an interpretative endeavor of the dialogue which the first twelve Franciscans to arrive to Mexico maintained with the elder mexicas. Foremost, we present the events narrated in the Colloquia and Christian Doctrine, collected by Bernardino de Sahagún, in his Historia General de las Cosas de Nueva España. After a textual analysis of the document, we bring forward many hypotheses where the true intentionality of religious imposition by the friars, is manifested, and on the other hand, the beginning of the Indigenous resistance not from direct confrontation, but from a partial acceptance of the new proposal without renouncing to their deepest cosmovision.
