Editorial process

The Revista Ciencia Humanas, according to its periodicity, synthesizes its editorial management in six stages: submission, evaluation, correction, design, publication and dissemination. Each stage is important, for which it counts on the support of Editorial Bonaventuriana to ensure the constant and responsible flow of the publication. Authors are recommended to review this section in order to have clarity on the process, times and moments in which they will have an active participation.

Sending

This first stage is the exclusive responsibility of the authors. In this sense, authors are requested to make a reading the journal's policy so that they are aware of what is expected of them. This includes:

1. About the journal. It presents general information about the publication.
2. Editorial process. It develops each of the stages of the editorial management.
3. Ethical policies. It includes the main aspects of scientific integrity.
4. Review policies. It sets out the evaluation modality, the guidelines for the peers and the evaluation format.
5. Guide for authors. Guides authors in the submission of manuscripts.

With the review of the previous points, the corresponding author will be able to evaluate if the manuscript fits the scope and interest of the the manuscript fits the scope and interest of the journal and proceed with its submission. All submissions should be through Open Journal Systems (OJS).

As an important recommendation, at least the correspondence author should be aware of the journal's communications by mail and make sure to attend in a timely and complete manner all the requests made by the journal through the OJS platform; therefore, he/she should make sure that they do not go to the Junk Mail folder.

Evaluation

It comprises the evaluation process of the proposal and is developed in two phases: submission evaluation and peer review. The submission evaluation is carried out by the editorial committee, after the coordinator's explanatory statement, who submits the manuscript to the review of the Turnitin similarity program and reviews whether it complies with the journal's policy (unpublished text, standardization, APA norms, textual extension, subject matter, format submission, etc.). Since the percentage of matches provided by the Turnitin program is not an absolute value, but is subject to review and interpretation, the committee evaluates the percentage of matches and decides whether to pass to peer review. peer review. If it does not comply, it is rejected and the authors are notified. If it is accepted, it advances to the correction phase. If it is rejected, the process ends.

Manuscripts that advance to the next phase are prepared to avoid any identification of the authors, i.e., the authors are identification of the authors, i.e., neither authors nor peers have access to personal information that would make it possible to identify them. The protagonists of this segment are the editor and the peer reviewers. The editor identifies and invites at least one reviewer, knowledgeable in the subject matter of the article, with doctoral or master's degree training, active in research and with extensive scientific production. If the reviewers accept the invitation, they have four weeks to evaluate the manuscript. After this time, the reviewers return their concepts and the decision to accept or reject the manuscript is made at a meeting of the editorial committee. If it is accepted, it advances to the correction phase. If it is rejected, the process ends.

The average time for submission evaluation is three weeks and for peer review is six weeks. The editorial board's decision to accept or reject takes three weeks. Between between submission and the decision of the editorial board, more or less three months may elapse. subject to the journal's workflow and the timeliness of the peer reviewers' response.

Proofreading

It begins with the articles approved by the editorial committee and, likewise, is divided into two parts: the adjustments and recommendations of the peer reviewers and the style correction. In the first part, the authors accept and carry out the recommendations and adjustments made by the peer reviewers and the editor. It is important to emphasize that this is the last moment to introduce substantive changes. The average time for adjustments will depend on their complexity. This, on average, is three weeks. Once the changes (manuscript and report) are received, the editor makes a review and, depending on their complexity, will rely on the peer reviewer(s) to verify that the recommendations were correctly addressed. The average time for this review will be two weeks and may vary according to the workflow and the availability of the peer reviewer(s). If the requested changes were not complied with or were only partially complied with, the editor will ask the authors to fully comply with the adjustments or recommendations, under penalty of rejecting the article. If the authors have fully complied with the requested changes, the second part or style correction will continue, in which grammatical, semantic, syntactic, orthotypographic, citation and referencing aspects will be addressed. The average average time for proofreading is four weeks. With the authors' approval of the corrections made and suggested corrections made and suggested corrections, the manuscript goes to design. This is the last moment to introduce minor changes and validate authorship and co-authorship.

Design

At this stage, the designer or layout designer prepares the graphic proposal, according to the magazine's design criteria, and sends it to the editor and proofreader, who will make the revisions and recommendations they consider pertinent. Minimal errors that may have been made in the previous stage may also be identified. Subsequently, the editor must give his approval. Once approved, the designer proceeds to convert it into PDF format. The approximate time to complete this stage is four weeks.

Publication

The articles converted to PDF are uploaded to the OJS platform, after review and collation of all metadata, and are organized according to their typology to generate their table of contents. Once Once this step has been completed, the issue is published and the DOI is activated with Crossref. The journal publishes its contents at the beginning of each year, in February. If the If the issue is ready before the launch dates, the editor proceeds with the publication of the issue in order to issue in order to give prompt dissemination to its contents. The average time for this stage is three weeks. This stage takes on average three weeks to complete.
