Abstract
Population aging and the increase in the labor participation of the elderly in the labor markets it’s been a relevant phenomenon all over the world, and investigated in recent years by various disciplines. This article synthesizes discussions and reflections the continuity of labor life or retired persons through bridge employments. For this, Atchley's theory of continuity is taken into consideration, since it is one of the most used in research on this subject, which evidenced the use of continuity as a transition and adjustment form to retirement, in order to preserve significant activities, and presenting the work on its function of centrality that gives sense to the life of older people who continue working.
