Resumo
En Argentina, un reconocido profesor de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, Jorge Bianchi, sostenía que la enorme mayoría de los que se dedicaban al campo de la psicología pertenecían a un género particular, al cual, con fina ironía, denominaba el género del homo a-numericus. Es posible que esa caracterización vaya mucho más allá de la Argentina y que abarque, además, a buena parte de las ciencias sociales. No pretendo en modo alguno una suerte de apología de lo cuantitativo ni de las matemáticas. Pero considero, eso sí, que puede ser oportuno en estas palabras iniciales a este número sobre estudios socio-bibliométricos, comenzar por revisar críticamente algunos argumentos que suelen reiterarse con la finalidad de desacreditar los análisis cuantitativos (entre ellos los bibliométricos) en el campo de las ciencias sociales.
