Abstract

Sólo el estudio de nuestras ciudades y arquitecturas permitirá mejorarlas. La geografía las diferenció del resto de Latinoamérica, pero son similares a otras que ignoramos por nuestra dependencia cultural. La historia de su diversificación inicial, modificación posterior y caótica actualidad sobre la que hay que actuar. Su pasado era parte del paisaje, y su estética surgió de pocas funciones y técnicas. Después se agregaron nuevos elementos y lo clásico, muchos materiales y arquitectos profesionales. Su criticado presente es el espectáculo de formas novedosas más sin sentido y ajeno a los centros históricos, pero publicitado por las revistas. Su futuro dependerá de soluciones contextuales y sostenibles, continuando lo ya construido con un nuevo canon y con menos pero mejores arquitectos.
