Abstract
Emotion Regulation (ER) has assumed relevance in clinical psychology. Its measurement requires adequate instruments at the psychometric level. The convergent and incremental validity of the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) was examined in 224 people between 18 and 63 years old (M = 32.04; SD = 11.51), and the temporal stability in 52 participants between 21 and 63 years old ( M = 30.46, SD = 10.65). The results indicated moderate temporal stability (.74) for expressive suppression and good (.81) for cognitive reappraisal. Also convergent validity through positive associations between expressive suppression and depressive and anxious symptoms. Cognitive reassessment was negatively associated with depressive symptoms. Evidence of incremental validity on depressive symptoms is provided (adjusted R2 = .44; p < .001).
