Abstract

his article shows the research results about the political violence against teachers, not only does it introduce figures but also it goes into detail about the nature and the dynamics of the manner how teachers are affected by the political violence in Colombia. As well, it presents the different strategies of resistance that trade unionists in the educational sector and their allies, have developed throughout the years, in order to defend their human rights. The result of this research shows the conclusions about the current situation of the Colombian teachers and poses some suggestions, addressed to the international educational community, trade unions, human rights movement, on how to help our colleagues in Colombia

Debido a la delicada naturaleza de esta investigación y a la amplia disputa existente relacionada con el número de violaciones de derechos humanos en Colombia y la responsabilidad de las mismas, he sido muy cuidadoso en el manejo de las estadisticas. Para este resultado de investigación me he basado exclusiuvamente en la base de datos de la Escuela
Nacional Sindical, la cual ha sido verificada detalladamente con los medios de comunicacion locales y nacionales, el sindicato en cuestión y con los datos estadísticos existentes en otras dos
bases de datos de dos importantes organizaciones non gubernamentales, CINEP and CCJ. En un entorno peligroso y altamente politizado como el que existe en Colombia, esta
documentación no es siempre facil de conseguir y es probable que muchas de las violaciones no aparecen ni siquiera reportadas. Por consiguiente mi hipótesis es que las cifras presentadas aqui representran un número inferior a las cifras reales de las violaciones de derechor humanos contra
los educadores especificamente y en general contra lo sindicalistas.
