Resumen
Esta investigación, de tipo descriptivo, permite conocer y analizar las características generales asociadas con el abandono de los pacientes al proceso terapéutico del Centro de Estudios y Atención Psicológica (CEAPSY) de la Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC); se estudian los factores asociados con las características del paciente, el terapeuta, la terapia, y el contexto, a partir del análisis de historia clínica y entrevistas telefónicas a los consultantes. El porcentaje de deserción es del 88% de los casos recibidos, con una frecuencia de alrededor del 30% del total de casos para cada categoría de causas estudiadas; respecto a los factores predisponentes del abandono, no se ha logrado tener claridad sobre la influencia de características tales como edad, sexo, nivel educativo o social, sin embargo, se encuentra un nivel deserción asociado a mas de una variable de estudio como por ejemplo, la edad, la fase del proceso en el que se encuentra el consultante y los determinantes del contexto, entre otros.
