Abstract
A pesar de tener el apoyo del público y numerosas ventajas sobre otras fuentes de energía, a las tecnologías renovables se les ha caracterizado repetidamente de no poder satisfacer nuestras necesidades energéticas, y se han presentado sólo como una opción entre los combustibles fósiles convencionales y la energía nuclear. En este trabajo se muestra que esto es una falsa opción, ya que la energía renovable puede generar de forma segura la misma energía que los combustibles convencionales, y puede hacerlo sin producir las emisiones de carbono o los residuos radiactivos que contaminan el medio ambiente.
