Abstract

This study is a description of the use of gambling and video games in students, teachers and employees of the University of San Buenaventura, Medellín section, and its relationship with the psychological dimension with variables such as: difficulty concentrating , change of mood, physical discomfort, preferring play to sports, and relaxation that produces the game; in this first partial results are presented in students. For this, it was applied in the first phase a questionnaire to a sample of 461 students out of a population of 2930 in the first half of 2006 to 95% of validity and a margin of error of 5%, in later stages, it will apply the same teachers and employees. info - Epi program was used for the systematic and statistical analysis. It is noteworthy that this study was supported by the Interdisciplinary Group for Psychosocial Studies Addiction, GIEPSA, belonging to the Center for Research and Care drug addict, CIAF, led by Francisco Javier Arias Zapata.
